Danube Delta- Presentation and tourist routes

General Presentation
The Danube, the second largest river of the old continent, on it's meeting with the Black Sea builds, for more than ten thousand years, one of the most beautiful deltas in Europe, or even in the entire world, known as one of the biggest wet zones of the planet. Many vegetal species or animals have also represented important natural resources, economically exploitable that have attracted people to these places from the most ancient of times. Human settings here were based primarily on the valorification of natural resources, thusly developing traditional economic activities and specific social relationships. Research concluded the existence of over 5000 species of plants that ensure food and shelter for over 300 species of birds and mammals, and aproximately 30 species of fish in the Delta's waters. In what concernes the richness of it's airborn fauna, it's imensity is not only relevant to the feeding conditions here but also to the geographical position of the Danube Delta which favours five migration routes to intersect over it's territory. In "passage" periods, huge flocks of birds pass by or leave this place towards warmer lands for the winter, and in spring they return to their nesting places. The same excellent conditions are offered to some mammals, some very rare for european fauna, some noted as being of real cinegetic interest. For their rest and wellbeing many reservations and refuge zones have been created along the Danube's banks.
